INTRODUCTION

This README.TXT file acompanies the ASCII versions of the 4DOS, 4OS2, and 4NT
Reference Manual and the Take Command Reference Manual.

These files have been formatted differently than our printed manuals in order
to be more easily used with braille or screen-reading software and
hardware. Because of the time and effort required for this conversion, the
ASCII manuals may not contain all of the current documentation changes. For
the most up-to-date information please consult the online help provided with
each product.

INCLUDED BATCH FILES

The manuals has been divided into separate files for each chapter. If you
would prefer to have a single file containing all of the chapters, run the
provided batch file ONEFILE.BTM in the directory that holds the reference
manual files. The new file will be named either 4REFMAN.TXT or
TCREFMAN.TXT, depending on which files are in the directory. If the
directory contains the chapter files for both the 4DOS, 4OS2, and 4NT
Reference Manual and the Take Command Reference Manual, ONEFILE will create
both complete manual files.

The example batch file REFFIND.BTM has been included to simplify searching
for a page number across multiple chapter files. If you know the page
number you want to see, you can run REFFIND with the syntax:

     REFFIND pg#

The batch file will search the chapter files and launch LIST on the page it
has found. If you have both the 4DOS, 4OS2, and 4NT Reference Manual and
the Take Command Reference Manual in the same directory, you can specify
which manual you wish to search on by adding either '4' or 'T' as a second
parameter. For example, if you want to find page 113 in the Take Command
manual, you would use:

     REFFIND 113 T

See REFFIND.BTM for additional information.
